received this e-mail regarding Greene County Ohio:
John:
With regard to your inquiry the other night about Transportation
Enhancements and also Greene County Ohio bike trails, I am offering the
following links to review. http://www.co.greene.oh.us/parks/bike_trails.htm
describes the multi-purpose trails system that links together a few
small communities in Greene County. It was funded by a variety of
sources including Enhancement funds, local and State of Ohio Clean Ohio
Fund Program. The rails to trails site is also a good site that
describes the various methods that local communities have employed to
create pedestrian and bicycle trails, http://www.railtrails.org/whatwedo/policy/tea21.asp and
http://www.enhancements.org/
provide a good overview of the Enhancement program, derived out
of Federal Highway funds under TEA-21, (Transportation Equity Act for
the 21st century).
All State
Transportation Departments have a TEA-21 Enhancement Program
Coordinator. Enhancement funds may be allocated to a variety of
programs including, but not limited to historic preservation, bike
paths, and streetscape improvements. Perhaps a future presentation
to the CAC about the Indiana program would be of interest to the
group.
Hope this
helps, Bill
